Students will be introduced to an eclectic
mix of rare saxophones. Some of their favorites will be the curved sopranino
(the smallest ever made at eleven inches in height) and the contrabass sax (at
six-and-one-half feet in height, the largest ever made). They will recognize
such melodies as The Pink Panther Theme and Yakety Sax and hear the blues as
performed by Lisa on the animated TV show, The Simpsons. Students will be
exposed to several different jazz styles including dixieland, the blues, and
swing.
Operatunity

here. In opera, people die, boyfriends
cheat, women cry, and yet we find a way to sing! Laughter is indeed the best
medicine, but it is also a terrific teacher, especially for people who think
they hate opera. Our singers lead each group through operatic terminology and
traditions, taking them to levels of understanding and even appreciation. With
our trunk full of beautiful melodies, and clever shtick we'll make it happen!
Our programs are interactive, and improvisational. Call us in-your-face-opera.

Flamenco
del Sol –

here. “Viva Espana: A Journey Through
Spain" is our signature program. Participants join us for a vicarious viaje
(trip) around various provinces of the country. We change costumes and before
each dance, we explain how elements of the costume and dance reflect the
characteristics of the people. Our show includes regional Spanish folk dances,
classical numbers, as well as flamenco. The educational information interwoven
with the dances is entertaining, lighthearted and fun. Whether our participants
are kids or kids at heart, we encourage everyone to interact with with jaleo
(shouts) to encourage the dancers and palmas (clapping) to keep the rhythm and
generate energy. We show how to play castanets and we welcome everyone to join
us for a rumba. We have been invited to libraries, schools, senior centers,
museums, even military bases. We wish to share our passion for the dance, music
and expression of a culture prevalent in the southwest. Ole!
