AEC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization

Below is a list of all of our expenses.  But here are 4 ways that you can help us continue

to support quality, effective fine arts education to all SUSD schools:

1)   Volunteer with us!
We are always looking for new people to join AEC.
We meet monthly to review arts events and special programs in our district
and share news about statewide arts advocacy.
We would love for you to bring arts news back to your campus!

2)   Designate Arts in Education Council as a recipient of your e-scrip funds.

Escrip funds can be donated to up to 3 different organizations.
Please consider sharing your e-scrip shopping bonanza with Arts in Education Council too.
Look us up by searching "Arts in Education Council- Scottsdale Schools"

3)  Register with Doozy of a Deal, and let us benefit from your purchases.

Doozy of a Deal is a local online coupon generator (like Groupon and Living Social).

and then gives 7.5% of every purchase you make back to the selected group.

ABOUT THE $$$....

OPERATING EXPENSES: Each district school parent organization is asked to pay $50 per year in dues to the AEC for general operating expenses.

GRADE-LEVEL FINE ARTS PERFORMANCES: Money to cover the cost of these events is raised from grants, primarily from the Scottsdale League for the Arts, a community group, whose chief fund raising effort is the “Scottsdale Culinary Festival” held in April.  Funding for fine arts performances is sometimes also subsidized by school parent groups and AEC fundraisers.

HIGH SCHOOL MASTER CLASSES/CLINICS: The Council has developed a program of high school master classes/clinics funded though grant funds.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The AEC provides scholarships for students to attend summer fine arts camps and workshops.  The program was established in 1996 with a named scholarship, McClellan Scholarship Fund, in memory of Patricia Krewson McClellan, daughter of AEC founder Pam Krewson and her husband Chuck Krewson.  Patty graduated from Saguaro High School where she was an enthusiastic participant in the band as a member, concertmistress and drum major.  Applications for scholarship for summer 2012 will be available in January 2012.

ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE: The AEC helps write grants for residencies and to coordinate residencies. The district contributes matching funds up to $1500 to each school whose grant application for a residency is accepted by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the state arts agency. If more money is needed for the residency, the school parent group will provide it.

OTHER EXPENSES: The School District provides the AEC with many courtesies that result in savings to the organization, including use of meeting and storage space, the inter-school mail system and technical support.
