Arts in
Education Council Programs are supported through Grants, Gifts, and School Funds
 |
Fine Arts Field Trips:
Professional
concerts, plays and dance performances for first through eighth grade district
students at all schools are selected and coordinated by the Arts in Education
Council (AEC). Funding comes from a variety of sources, including schools,
Scottsdale League for the Arts, Scottsdale Cultural Council, and local
businesses. |
 |
High School Master Classes:
The Arts
Council coordinates a program for high school dance, drama, visual arts, band,
choral and strings teachers to bring outside arts professionals into their
classrooms. Funding comes from grants and individual donations to the Arts
Council. |
 |
Masterpieces of Art:
Arts Council volunteers discuss visual art masterpieces with students in their
general classrooms, integrating art history and perception into everyday
life. Training is provided and the Art Guides do not need to have an art
background. The council’s MAP program was the first of its kind in Arizona
and has been the impetus for similar programs in many other school districts
and private schools throughout the state. MAP is funded by participating
schools and respective parent groups. |
 |
Music Appreciation:
The Arts Council encourages volunteers and general music teachers to implement
the Phoenix Symphony Build’s Music Memory program or programs developed by AEC
members. Training is provided and the Music Guides do not need to have a
music background. Volunteers or general music teachers discuss the music with
the students. These programs are funded by participating schools and
respective parent groups. |
 |
Artists-in-Residence:
The Council encourages all schools to have a yearly Artists-in-Residence
program and AEC Representatives help select, write grants, and coordinate
them. Funding is provided by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, Scottsdale
School District, individual schools, and parent groups. |
 |
Recognition Awards:
The AEC recognizes an Outstanding Fine Arts Teachers, SUSD Administrator, AEC
Volunteer, Community Member and Community Organization. |
 |
McClellan Scholarship: The
Council seeks donations each year to send three students from each of our
Title I schools (those which have a population with 20% or more on free or
reduced lunch) to band, strings, and visual arts summer camps. These amazing
opportunities would not otherwise be available to these talented and deserving
students. |
