McCLELLAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The McClellan Scholarship Fund awards full scholarships, including busing, to elementary and middle school band and string students in the district so they can attend music and visual arts camps.  Participating schools have over 20% of their students enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program.  Students are chosen by their teacher and principal on the basis of participation, citizenship, a desire to bring new skills back to their schools and financial need.

Funds for scholarships are raised through donations from the community and from schools and parents who wish to recognize a particular teacher, staff member or child.

For the past few years, the McClellan fund awarded thirty scholarships to one band, one strings and one visual art student from each of the ten schools that qualified.

The visual arts students attend Scottsdale Artists' School summer camp through the generosity of partial scholarships funded by the school.  Students study drawing, still-life, self-portraiture and sculpture.

The Arts Council established its scholarship fund in 1996 in memory of Patricia Krewson McClellan, daughter of Council founder Pam Krewson and her husband Chuck Krewson.  Patty graduated from Saguaro High School where she was an enthusiastic participant in the band as a member, concertmistress and drum major.

If you would like to donate to this Scholarship, please contact Pam Krewson at 602-955-0390.
